The Victoria Trail Agricultural Society is hosting this event for you to enjoy a day of learning trail obstacles and improve your horsemanship with the instruction of Laverne Schmidt.
Registration
- Pre-registration for VTAS members only until June 15
- Registration open to non-members from June 16
- Limited spaces available, so get your entries in!
Book one of the following time slots:
- 9:00am – 12:00pm
- 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Divisions
- Adult (18+)
- Junior Horse (5 yrs and under)
- Junior Rider (17 yrs and under)
Format
Each time slot consists of:
- Obstacle instruction and practice with Laverne Schmidt
- One go of your choice of 8 of the 14 obstacles (see below) to be judged by Laverne Schmidt
Note: This is not a timed event. You will be judged on your horsemanship/partnership with your horse, as well as accuracy of maneuvers.

List of Obstacles
- Gate – left hand open.
- Drag log.
- Garacha pole – take hold of the garacha pole and make one full circle. The opposite end of the pole must remain inside the hoola hoop on the ground. (Junior rider/junior horse: one circle at the walk – either direction. Adult: one circle at the walk and one circle at the trot – either direction.)
- Jump – proceed over jump at the trot or lope.
- Bridge – cross bridge with a tarp under at the walk.
- Slicker – pick up slicker from Pole A, proceed at a walk to Pole B and hank slicker on Pole B.
- Deadfall – walk through.
- 360 degree turn in a 6-foot box.
- Trot around 2 cones, stop, back 5 steps.
- TeePee tent – walk under/through tent, in hand.
- Labyrinth – walk through ground poles pattern.
- Back in serpentine – around 3 cones, either direction.
- Sidepass over log – minimum of 5 feet.
- Jacket toss – remove jacket and toss directly in front of your horse.
